The practical implication is simple: if your best penalty taker isn't accurately rated for Shooting, you're not just misjudging one attribute — you're shaping who the engine defaults to in exactly the moment that matters most.
Why Specialist Attributes Pay Off Disproportionately
Because set pieces already favor certain positions and certain attributes so heavily, small improvements there tend to matter more than the same improvement would in open play.
A striker or winger with elite Shooting isn't just a good finisher in general open-play situations — given how consistently they're prioritized to attack crosses and corners, that same attribute gets far more repeated opportunities to matter over a season.
This is the marginal-gains principle in practice: you're not trying to reinvent your entire attacking approach. You're making sure the players most likely to be put in a scoring position by a corner, a free kick, or a penalty are actually the ones best equipped to convert it.
