A three-man defense offers natural numerical superiority in the center and frees up wingbacks to attack. Conversely, a flat back four provides wider coverage and allows for an extra body in the midfield or attacking zones.

There is no perfect formation. In Football League Simulator, your success depends entirely on matching the formation to the specific attributes of your defensive line. Forcing slow defenders into a high back three is a recipe for disaster.
